Rockstar issued a press release today confirming the release date of Grand Theft Auto IV as April 29, 2008.

This news comes as a plesant surpirse considering the disappointment fans exhibited after the first delay was announced (back in September) last year, and the speculation by many that this game would be delayed until the fourth quarter of 2008. 

Of course nothing can prepare the gaming masses for the reactions from mainstream television/print sources, when news that a sequel to the controversial franchise hits their respective radars.  Anyone looking forward to that witch hunt should tune in May 1.
