Just when you thought it couldn't be released on any more platforms - those lads at
Conspiracy Ent. and
United Coders are bringing
Dragon's Lair to the DS!?!? Daphne!!!

As part of the publishing deal the lads at
Conspiracy worked out with
Don Bluth they'll also be releasing -
eventually -
Dragon's Lair II 'Warp Time' as well as your favorite, and mine,
Space Ace. The game will be released with support for two modes - one that follows the original arcade experience for those looking for yet another way to paddle the castle rapids - while the other is dubbed
'Director's Cut' and promises to deliver the game in a
'very unique way'. The Director's Cut will also support Rumble Pak, Stylus and Voice Recognition. Can you say, "
Left Dirk! Go Left!"Hans Olsen (Lead Programmer and Executive Producer) of
United Coders had this to say about the project:
This is such an important gaming franchise as it falls into one of those conversations ‘Do you remember were where you when Elvis or Diana died?’ except with this game it’s ‘Do you remember in which chip shop or arcade you first played this game?’. ‘We talked long and hard with the original creators of Dragon Lair - Don Bluth, Gary Goldman and Rick Dyer – they were so impressed with our vision for these titles, that we now have these gaming gems to bring to the market in a new format’. Somehow...I'm more excited about this version than the recently released HD version
One word:
"win"
When I was a kid (3-4 years old) I was in love with Princess Daphne.
I would pretend I was Dirk the Daring rescuing Daphne. I would swing over the pit of fire, through the dragons jaws and swoop her into my arms and whisk her away to the most beautiful cartoon paradise ever conceived by a toddlers mind.
Maybe I should have gone outside more often...
Wow.
