Microsoft has released the second in a series of three live-action short films directed by
Neil Blomkamp in which he showcases his 'vision' for the "
Halo" world.
This segment, entitled
'Combat: Part I' gives us a firsthand look at Neil's interpretation of "
Halo" with a look at
UNSC soldiers piloting a Warthog - taking down some
Brutes and a 'real-life' Plasma Rifle in action.
A streamable version is available
HERE and tomorrow an
HD version will be made available for download through the
XBL Marketplace.
For those of you behind on the story -
Neil Blomkamp is the director whom
Peter Jackson insisted be on the "Halo" film prior to it's cancellation for
'lack of funds'. Mmmm, hmmm. Concern is in the air on the studios part surrounding the selection of Blomkamp who to date has only previously directed short films. It says a lot that Jackson apparently
refuses to do the film without him - should interest again arise in the project.
Our guess is the studios will think again post
Halo 3 release - and after viewing these shorts by
Blomkamp - at least - that's the strategery I'm certain. I'd be curious to know the budget he was given to do these shorts. They don't look terrible - but they also don't look that amazing either. Actually - in some aspects - it seems a bit laughable. But hey, at least it ain't Uwe Boll!
Oooooh, take that sucker punch Uwe!
