Updated: Peter Moore is going to head EA Sports. It's like trading twins!
It's official kids -
Peter Moore has relinquished control of the
Interactive Entertainment Business [IEB] division of
Microsoft to return to Northern California where rumor has it - a new job awaits.
Was it the "
go deeper, go harder" comments made by
Grant Collier (
Infinity Ward), at last week's
Microsoft Press Conference (during the annual
E3 Summit) that sent him over the edge?

Regardless it would seem his replacement will come from another faceless monster corporation - yep - you guessed it,
EA
Don Mattrick, former president at
EA, has agreed to take over Peter's position and had this to say about the deal:
“Over the past two decades, and the past few months in particular, I’ve worked closely with many of Microsoft’s top leaders and I’ve always been impressed by their talent, passion and commitment,” said Mattrick. “I’m thrilled to join an already strong team that’s delivering truly amazing gaming experiences to customers around the world. I’ve never been more excited about the future of the industry, and firmly believe Microsoft will lead the next great innovations in gaming.”
The question is - what did Peter know that Don does not? With Microsoft still deep in the red due to expenditures on the Xbox and X360 platforms - and the recent 1.5billion investment in extending customer warranties for the ailing X360 platform - things can't be good - even if the Holiday's look set to be in Microsoft's favor.
Hey, at least Peter stepped down before he got reassigned to some chhesy portable music player division
*cough*Allard*cough*
In all seriousness we wish Mr. Moore the best of luck with his next position - Hmmm - San Francisco? Could Sony have lured him back?
