Hope For a Good Game to Film Future. Peter Jackson Said So.
Okay first: In an interview with Yahoo Games, Peter Jackson commented on Kong (the game) and Halo (the movie). Fun for everyone. As far as making the first game, which was lauded as one of the best film to game creation in...well...forever, Jackson admitted to not giving a huge amount of input but he "just oversaw from a creative perspective and made sure they captured our core values for what we wanted to accomplish in the game". Still, even critics will admit that Kong was a shiny beacon in a history of junk. And it all started with E.T. Do we owe its success to Jackson? Eh, who knows? We liked it though, and we want some more.
On the other end of the stick, we've got the Game to Film problem. I'll warn you all, I liked the first Resident Evil movie, so you may not want to listen to me, but for the most part these adaptations have been worse than scientists had thought possible (Okay, so I made the scientist part up, sue me). He won't be directing Halo, but he'll be producing it, so maybe some of that aforementioned "overseeing" will help. He seems pretty intrigued commenting that "It'll be very interesting when a filmmaker creates a video game-based film experience that goes beyond what people thought it could be." Yes, it will be interesting, but can it be NOW?
