Already a Bad Year For Windows?
Firewall? Check. Latest security patch? Check. Virus Protection? Check. Spyware protection? Check. Still gonna get burned? Absolutely. New information was given to Microsoft regarding a flaw in all operating systems they've released in the last 10 years, exposing their clientele to mean spirited hackers everywhere, each and every time they go online. So Microsoft agrees to fix the problem by the 10th of January, the date of their monthly security patch, but that leaves us with a week in which we are totally exposed, regardless of the precautions we could have taken.
These kind of threats are not new, and with Microsoft being the biggest in the industry, it's certainly not uncommon to experience these threats. With the amount of time it takes to set up a good patch and test the darn thing a week really isn't terribly long either. I warn you though, be careful this week folks. We're in for a scary few days, and I sure wouldn't like to be Microsoft right now. Happy New Year!
