The Phantom May Be Just That
Infinium Labs has announced financial troubles. Surprised? Many have wondered whether or not the Phantom would ever be released, and for good reason. Announced in mid-2003 the Phantom was to be the biggest thing EVAR. Faster processing, bigger game library and everything any player would ever need in a console. The absolute lack of press in the meantime, however, suggests that it's not coming along quite as smoothly as expected.
In 2004 Infinium impressed E3 attendees with one of the biggest booths in the South Hall (that's VERY big, by the way), but the no-showed in 2005 leaving many wondering about their progress. Now they have announced a new product, made specifically for PC gamers called a Lapboard. The Lapboard is essentially a keyboard and mouse combination, the keyboard turns 360 degrees to facilitate use by either right or left handed users, and includes a lapboard for the mouse which enables players to play from back in their chairs, without need of desk space.
Unfortunately, they have also announced financial hardship. The dept they face is substantial and seriously hinders their progress. Remember folks, defaulting on loans is a bad business practice. Will we ever see the Phantom or will it be as elusive as its namesake?
