Japanese Xbox 360 Launch: A Huge Success (or was it?)

Was the Japanese 360 launch Xbox's biggest triumph? I dunno. Microsoft would like you to think so, but a few gaming sites seem to differ on whether the launch was a real success. A Gamespot article posted last Friday seemed to think the 360 launch was a winner. On the other hand, both BBC News and Kotaku report otherwise. Some online retailers, like Lik-Sang, still have Japanese 360s in stock. I dunno about youse, but that alone tells me that it's definitely not as big as it was in the US and Europe. The original Xbox was never popular in Japan, either, as the ol' GBA (not the SP or Micro mind you) sold twice as many units there than the Xbox in 2005. There's no Xbox lovin' going on in Japan from what I can tell, and maybe there never will be.
