Nobody likes running lengths of CAT5 cable through their walls and floors, as it is typically much more a pain in the arse than your typical office setting. Homes are not near as accessible for running wiring of any type compared to the standard cubicle farm - no pop out ceiling panels, or hollow walls - thus making a "networked home" much more a chore than a convenience.
Of course you can always go wireless, but there are so many hoops to jump through, as far as security and range are concerned. Are their any other options Why certainly!
While listening to Desmond Crisis over at CNET Radio a few weeks ago I happened upon an amazing new product that immediately piqued my interest – the NeverWIRE 14. This amazing little device, developed by a company called Phonex Broadband, out of Midvale, Utah, allows you to extend your home internet connection via the existing power lines within the walls of your home! Based open the HomePlug technology, users can take advantage of just about any outlet in the home, converting it into an access point to your existing network using a variety of products with speeds of up to 14MBps. Up to 16 of these units can be used on a particular network, connecting a ridiculous number of PCs to your HomePlug network. -->Pachoey
We've also got an interview with Brad Warnock the Director of Marketing for Phonex Broadband in which our man Pach talks with Brad about the NeverWire technology and the future of HomePlug. Get to reading!
