Kazuki Takahashi's Yu-Gi-Oh! games still appear to be as popular as ever. Kids all over the world play them, but it's too bad you can only have matches with friends in your neighborhood. Well, Konami plans to change that with their latest innovation in the Yu-Gi-Oh! franchise. The Yu-Gi-Oh! USB Duelpass Key is a device that will let kids of all ages play Yu-Gi-Oh! online without much of a hassle. I got to sit down with Lori Moreno of Konami's Development & Marketing who gladly showed us a demonstration of how this new device works.
Just gotta turn it on The USB Duelpass Key looks like your typical USB memory stick covered with Yu-Gi-Oh characters. By just plugging the Duelpass key into an available USB slot on your PC, your web browser automatically opens up to the Yu-Gi-Oh! Online website. From there all you have to do is sign in with your distinctive login and you're ready to play against anyone in the world. It's so simple even crazy Grandma, who's never touched a computer, can get in on the action in just a matter of seconds.
Once you're logged in, the Yu-Gi-Oh! USB Duelpass Key will dump 90 duel points into your account. Each key also includes three virtual cards with one exclusive card available only with the Duelpass Key product. The Yu-Gi-Oh! USB Duelpass Key also comes in a nifty collectable card case. There are six different card cases available in Series #1. Series #1 will debut in Spring 2006 for $9.99 each, with Series #2 and #3 coming out later in the year.
It's shocking how simple it is
Seems like great idea. Most kids don't want to go through the trouble of looking up URLs and trying to figure what program they need to run to play their game, they just want to turn the computer on and start playing. I just hope those USB ports aren't too hard to get at for little junior.
You don't want him digging around behind the family PC and electrocuting himself. Having 8000 life points ain't gonna do him no good if that happens.
