Rumble Roses XX – First Look
Release date: March 2006
Genre: Wrestling
Platform: Xbox 360

Jaws dropped after watching Producer Akari Uchida's demo of Rumble Roses XX at the Konami Gamers Day event. Yuke's Entertainment (maker of many WWE wrestling games) and Konami sure did a number on this one. You'd think they couldn't make the game any raunchier than the Playstation 2 Rumble Roses, but they did. Skimpier clothes, adjustable breast sizes, and demeaning wrestling holds are just a few of the things that wowed us at the show. Needless to say, I had to wait a while in line before I could get a chance to try Rumble Roses XX out. It's been almost a week since I gave it a go, but I still feel a little dirty after playing it. Unclean!

Make Your Momma Proud
Fancy graphics and tiny thongs aren't the only improvement over the original PS2 version. Mr.Uchida let us in on a few new gameplay modes:
o Pure Humiliation Match and Queen's Match: These were the most popular modes at the event. Both matches involve doing a humiliating move on your opponent or watching them do something embarrassing if they lose.
o 4-Way Battle Royal: This one pretty much says it all. Four people fight until there's a winner.
o Street Fight: Takin' it to the streets! This mode pokes fun at DOA and turns this wrestling game into a one-on-one fighting tournament.
o Tag Match: I can't believe this wasn't in the original game! I mean how can you have a wrestling game without a tag match? Well, they finally put it in the Xbox 360 version.
o Xbox Live: You and three other buddies can compete online as a team or head-to-head. Take photos of your wrestlers in a variety of different, uh, poses and share them with your pals via Xbox Live. Oh man, I can see where this is heading.

Uchida also included more than 40 wrestlers, each with a much wider variety of moves and combinations than in the original. You'll also have the ability to change the costume and physique of the characters to create your own personal wrestler. Pretty much everything on the girls is customizable, from their hair color and outfits to their, er, bust size. Changing the physique along with the way you fight affects your character's abilities in the ring. Giving the girl a DD cup may not be the way to go if you actually want to win the championship.

While the graphics look gorgeous from afar, the girls looked like scary mannequins up close. The creepy, expressionless looks on their faces are almost enough to kill any jollies that one might get from a game like this. Almost. The controls and animation didn't really seem to be any better than the PS2 version. A lot of jerky, clunky movement going on in the ring with some weird camera angles to boot. It wasn't enough to deter from the over all gameplay, but a bit shameful for a next-gen console title.

Well Shaved
While the game did manage to draw a lot of attention at the show, I dunno if it has enough going for it to make it the world champion of wrestling games. It seems as if they're trying really hard to overcome the game's shortcomings with a lot of pizzazz and T&A. Rumble Roses XX has some stiff competition in that of Dead or Alive 4, which currently reigns supreme in the happy bouncing fighting girl games category. It does offer a huge variety of game modes, humor, girls, and some neato customizing options that will more than satisfy some gamers. With a little bit of polish, it just might be able to become the naughty girl fighting game champion of the world.
