While attending the Konami Summer BBQ Bash media party, I got a chance to check out their first Wii game titled "Elebits". Of couse game playing had to wait until I had me some BBQ delights. Woulda been nice if they put out some wet naps. Now my fingers are all sticky. Oh well. Let's go check out the game anyways.

Story goes that for more than 10,000 years the humans and strange little creatures called the Elebits lived in harmony. In fact, the Elebits became the main source of energy on the planet, replacing petroleum, electricity, oil, coal, etc. Then one day the Elebits stopped providing power and everything stopped working. I'm guessing they went on strike. I dunno. Luckily you have your capture gun (think Ghostbusters Proton Pack) to force those little buggers to do their job.

The main premise of the game is to collect as many Elebits as you can to return power to your world. Using the Wiimote, you control a laser beam that can move most environmental objects around (though you'll have to charge up your capture gun to move larger items) flipping, opening, turning everything over to try and uncover some Elebits. As you collect Elebits, you build up wattage, which allows you to power items in your home. It's a neat concept and the game has a Katamari Damacy sorta feel to it. The Wii controller works like a charm and it only takes a minute to get the hang things.

Elebits is a amusing fun game that makes it hard to put the controller down once ya get started. That might have to do more with the fact that the BBQ sauce from lunch had fused my hand to the controller, but otherwise I think this is one title to keep an eye on.
