Samus is back, and she’s headed for the Wii. This new Metroid feels spectacularly similar to the Primes on the Cube. Unfortunately, on the same token it looks exactly like the games on the cube. I absolutely realize that Nintendo never claimed the Wii had graphics comparable to the other next-generation systems. Their revolution was about the play, not the look. Still, it’s a little disheartening that there isn’t any obvious graphical improvement, and Metroid Prime 3: Corruption hits that reality home.
This game makes perfect use of the Wii controller. The wiimote, and it’s use to move your view around is fantastic, and the fact that you launch and reel the nunchuku for a grappling device is ingenious, but getting Samus to turn around is possibly even more of a pain then it was in the previous titles. All in all, it’s a winner. I’m looking forward to it’s release mostly because it represents a chance to use the Wii functionality to the fullest. Yeehaw.
